Lake Atitlan villages tour from Antigua
The Lake Atitlan villages tour is a full day tour visiting villages around lake Atitlan by boat. The transportation from Antigua is shared. The guide for the group is bilingual.
Around 5:30 a minibus will pick you up from your hotel in Antigua. After the bus picks up everybody from their respective hotels it will take about 2 hours to get to Panajachel. Here you will enjoy a typical breakfast before the start of the boat tour around 9:30 am.
First you will go to a village called San Juan, one of the more authentic villages at the lake, famous for weaving and dyeing techniques and the use of medicinal plants. Next stop is San Pedro La Laguna, here you learn more about the indigenous Maya Tz’utujil community and the coffee production around the lake.
The last stop for the boat is Santiago Atitlan, together with the bilingual guide you will visit the central square, a look out point, and depending on time and interest Maximon.
The boat returns to Panajachel where you will take your shuttle back to Antigua.
5:15 – 5:45 am: Pick-up from your hotel in Antigua. Shared minibus to Panajachel.
8:30 am: Arrival to Panajachel- Breakfast
9:15 am: Boat tour visiting 3 villages (San Juan, San Pedro and Santiago Atitlan) with a bilingual guide.
3 pm: The boat returns to Panajachel.
4 pm: Shared minibus back to Antigua (drop-off in central park).
Please note these times are estimates. Depending on the number of people joining the tour and traffic etc. things can go a bit faster or slower.
